Use of sterically hindered amines for the protection of polyolefin fibers against chemical oxidation, is claimed. Independent claims are included for: (1) a filter medium containing polyolefin fibers, which contain the sterically hindered amines; and (2) preparing the filter medium, comprising incorporating the sterically hindered amines into the thermoplastic polyolefin, processing the polyolefin into fibers, and processing the fibers into a fleece.
