Disk-type machine e.g. transverse flux machine, has position sensor provided for determining axial position of rotor disk, control unit coupled with position sensor and arranged such that control unit adjusts axial position of rotor disk
The machine i.e. transverse flux machine (1), has stators e.g. stator yoke (3) and winding (5), separated from a rotor disk (2) through an air gap (4), where the rotor disk is slidably supported in an axial manner. A position sensor is provided for determining an axial position of the rotor disk. The position sensor includes a distance sensor. A control unit is coupled with the position sensor, and arranged such that the control unit adjusts the axial position of the rotor disk. The rotor disk is mounted with a fixed bearing and a movable bearing on a rotor shaft. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a disk-type machine.
