The washing machine has a caustic solution container (1), a drum (2), a water inlet system (8,9,10) with a temperature sensor (18), a system of expiration of caustic solution (20) and a program control (12). A unit (27) is provided in the program control for evaluation of water temperature measured by the temperature sensor and for the allocation of temperature ranges stored in the program control. Another unit (28) is provided for the allocation of wash programs stored in the program control. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating washing machine.
