The method involves installing a brine removal line (5) and an injection line (6) in a gas storage cavern (1) i.e. natural gas storage cavern. Gas is introduced into the injection line for lifting brine (8) i.e. sodium chloride brine. Water e.g. fresh water, for dilution of saturated brine to be conveyed, is continuously or discontinuously added to the introduced gas. The gas and/or the water is preheated to temperature of the brine in the cavern. The brine removal line is connected with a degassing tank (16). The injection line is arranged only up to a middle portion of the cavern. An independent claim is also included for a device for discharging brine of a cavern, comprising a cemented tubular line.
