The key (1) has a receptacle for detachable mounting of a remote inquiry card by a user. A receiving medium is separated from a logic unit, which is electrically integrated in the motor vehicle key. The receiving medium has a card slot, where a fastening medium is designed in the inner side (3). The receiving medium comprises a battery cover (2) and a housing shell. A remote inquiry card (4) is designed in the form of a Radio-frequency identification (RFID)tag.
