The method for process stabilization during laser and laser-metal-shielding gas-hybrid welding of metallic workpieces such as pipes, comprises controlling the energy input in welding pool by means of laser power modulation. A laser power base level (P u) is superimposed according to a pulse time repeated to a higher laser power (P o). The pulse duration of the pulses (P o) is 1/2-1/20 of the time. The laser power (P o) is increased by a factor of 1.05-1.3 of the laser power base level (P u). The pulse frequency is 70-200 Hz.
