The device has a substructure (3) designed as a double support architecture and provided for raising and lowering a tracking mechanism (2) with a solar collecting surface (1) to monitor the substructure on flat- or gabled roofs. The substructure has a tilting axis (4) with which the tracking mechanism is switched between an operating position and a protective position. Supporting rods (5) are reinforced with a locking mechanism in the operating position. The solar collecting surface with support brackets (6) is arranged on roof-integrated support holders (7) parallel to a roof surface (8).
