The device has redirecting units (7a, 7b) lowering and raising a conducting unit along courses of crates (1). Direction of the crates is changed by a redirecting handle (8) retracted from a side in a conveyor path in case of discharge of the crates on another side. The handle is moved by a pneumatically, electrically or hydraulically actuated drive (9) e.g. lift drive or pivot drive. The handle is extended from the conveyor path in case of straight-line passing of the crates. The crates are discharged diagonal to a conveying device (3) by the redirecting units, and a rail is made of plastic.
