The device has a scattering plate mounted between a camera lens and an object, where the plate has a front side formed such that light of a light source is coupled to the plate. Scattering centers are pseudo randomly arranged at a surface of the plate such that light coupled into the plate is scattered by the surface of the plate. The scattering centers are formed as holes at the surface of the plate corresponding to a Halton sequence and/or a Faure sequence, and masks form the scattering centers at the surface of the plate.
