The method involves using duckweeds as aquatic plants. The duckweeds are reproduced in shallow water-filled plant trough (1) or -trench. The plant trough is provided with distributed ball spheres or balls (2) are introduced in the plant trough. The aquatic plants are adhered at the balls in diameter that is twice larger than depth of the plant trough. The balls are made from buoyant material and porous glass-ceramic material. A base of the plant trough is provided with distributed ball sphere contours such that the base is upwardly projected through an upper surface of a water table. An independent claim is also included for a device for producing biomass of aquatic plants.
