The device has a control unit (9) electrically connected with a stability sensor (11) and a drive unit (7). The drive unit is controllable by the control unit depending on signals of the sensor. The drive unit is assigned to two wheels (5), and is formed as an electrical wheel hub motor, where torque is directly exerted on a wheel hub of each wheel by the drive unit. An electrical differential (31) is connected with the drive unit, and includes an electrical main drive (33) forming the drive unit and a transmission (37) that is adjustable by an electrical control drive (35). An independent claim is also included for a method for driving stabilization of a trailer pulled by a towing vehicle.
