Water treatment plant with an oxidation device with an inlet for water to be treated and an outlet for treated water, and a dosage device for the addition of oxidant, comprises a biosensor that has a genetically modified yeast comprising a first expression cassette for constitutive expression of retinoid X receptor (RXR)-gene, a second expression cassette for constitutive expression of a pregnane X receptor (PXR)-gene and a third expression cassette with a reporter gene under the control of a promoter which has at least one response element. Water treatment plant with an oxidation device with an inlet for water to be treated and an outlet for treated water, and a dosage device for the addition of oxidant, comprises a biosensor that has a genetically modified yeast comprising a first expression cassette for constitutive expression of retinoid X receptor (RXR)-gene, a second expression cassette for constitutive expression of a pregnane X receptor (PXR) gene and a third expression cassette with a reporter gene under the control of a promoter which has at least one response element, which is specifically in the presence of a drug for the dimer from the translation product of the RXR-gene and the PXR-gene, where the biosensor is equipped with a detector for detecting the translation product of the reporter gene or the conversion of a precursor compound by a product of the reporter gene, to generate a measurement signal based on the detection, and the dosage device for oxidant is coupled with the biosensor and is controlled by it. Independent claims are included for: (1) controlling a device for water treatment, comprising an oxidation device, with addition of oxidant in the oxidation device, where the addition of the oxidant is controlled depending on a measured signal, which is obtained by detection of a product of a reporter gene expressed by a yeast, which is arranged in a third expression cassette under the control of a promoter that exhibits at least one response element, which contains a specific sequence for the addition of a dimer; and (2) the genetically modified yeast for use in a device.
