The piston (1) has a piston hub (2) for receiving a piston pin, in which a bearing shell (3) is provided. The bearing shell is provided in a partial area of the piston hub in a simple manner. The bearing shell is formed in the circumferential direction of the piston hub with an angle of deflection (alpha). The bearing shell is made of grey cast iron, austenitic steel, graphite, particular flake graphite, nickel or nickel-copper-chromium 1562. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a piston.
