The present invention relates to an intrafield scanning line interpolation method and apparatus using weights of edge directionality, and proposes an efficient spatial deinterlacing algorithm considering edge directional correction. Conventional edge-based deinterlacing algorithms show visually superior results compared to other spatial deinterlacing algorithms. However, when an incorrect edge direction is found, noise occurs in the image because interpolation is performed using pixel-level correlation. The proposed algorithm finds the correct edge direction by detecting edge direction around the pixel to be interpolated and correcting the edge direction by applying weighted median filter according to the obtained information. Experimental results show that the proposed method has better objective PSNR performance and subjective picture quality than conventional spatial deinterlacing methods.;Edge Direction, Correction, Weight, Weighted Median, Filter, De-Interlacing, Scan Line, Algorithm, Pixel, Image, Noise, Resolution
