PURPOSE: A diagnostic method for the determination of capability for the simulation of Madden-Julian oscillation in numerical models is provided to precisely diagnose Madden-Julian oscillation and to prevent the different result or analysis. CONSTITUTION: A diagnostic method for the determination of capability for the simulation of Madden-Julian oscillation in numerical models comprises the steps of: selecting a numerical model in which a signal distribution approaches observational data, wherein the signal distribution is over high position 95% level of a red background field spectrum in a cycle band of 30-80 days showing Madden-Julian oscillation; selecting the numerical model approaching a spatial structure of observational data; selecting the numerical model approaching each observational data related to atmosphere and marine variables; and determining the numerical model approaching observational data of the selected numerical models.
