PURPOSE: A method for the synthesis and purification for adamantane diol from adamantine is provided to selectively synthesize adamantane-1,3-diol and adamantane-1-ol at high purity through the hydroxy reaction of adamantine using a composite co-catalyst for a short reaction time.;CONSTITUTION: A method for the synthesis and purification for adamantane diol from adamantine comprises a step of contacting an adamantine compound with oxygen in the presence of N-hydroxyphthalimide and cocatalyst. The cocatalyst is one or more composite cocatalysts selected from the group consisting of oxides including elements selected from Co, Mn, V and Ru, inorganic acid salts, inorganic acid salts, halide, complexes, heteropolyacids, and heteropolyacid salts.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2012
