PURPOSE: A method for generating a thumbnail image from a bit stream of an image frame which is encoded according to an h.264/avc standard is provided to simply generate a thumbnail image in a small process.;CONSTITUTION: A method for generating a thumbnail image from a bit stream of an image frame which is encoded according to an h.264/avc standard includes as follows: a step of determining information about unit image block which comprises an image frame in a bit stream; a step of extracting a prediction reference pixel of an unit block according to information about a determined unit image block; a step of calculating an DC coefficient of 8X8 image block about unit image block based on information about the image block; a step of generating a thumbnail image from a coefficient of 8X8 image block about all units of image blocks which comprises an image frame.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2012
