An exemplary embodiment of the present invention provides a blind scan method for use in a digital video broadcast system. A digital video broadcast system receiver using the blind scan method needs no tables to record the frequency bands or region codes corresponding to the countries and regions, and even needs no specific information input by the users to speed up the scan process. The blind scan method scans the currently-existing combinations of frequency bands, and optimizes the sequence of scanning frequency bands for different situations, thereby reducing the scanning time. Therefore, the blind scan method can ensure that the frequency band used to transmit the digital video broadcast signals can be scanned.
