Disclosed is a technique of selecting a network-based mobility management protocol when a second interface of a mobile node is connecting to a second network in a state in which a first interface of the mobile node has a plurality of connections to a first network, and thereby reducing the processing load in the mobile node. According to this technique, when the interface (IF1) of the MN (10) has a plurality of connections (Conn 1, Conn 2) to a 3GPP network (11), the MN (10) instructs a P-GW (13), which is the home agent of the MN (10), that, when the interface (IF2) is connected to a Non-3GPP network (14) by a client-based mobility management protocol, a network-based mobility management protocol will be used as the type of mobility management protocol used for the connection (Conn 1) which connects at the same time as the connection (Conn 2).
