Invention herewith described refers to the procedure for obtaining modified sulphur by dicyclopentadiene from secondary sulphur obtained from oil refining process and its use. For their characteristics the sulphur concrete, sulphur - modified asphalt and sulphur mortar are increasingly used worldwide as building materials. One of the key components for its production is a secondary sulphur. As such, sulphur obtained as a by-product in oil refining process has a cyclic structure that is not suitable for good quality products. For this purpose it is necessary to modify thus obtained secondary sulphur, in in which process dicyclopentadiene proved to be the most suitable modifier. During the process of modification, it is necessary to heat the components at a temperature of 1400 C, which after a while drops to 1200 C, and after the ending of modification process, the key moment is a rapid cooling to avoid returning of the obtained chain structure into the cyclic forms. Modified sulphur obtained by this procedure is suitable for further use in the manufacture process of sulphur concrete, sulphur - modified asphalt and sulphur mortar.
