Method for channel assignment and for checking the topology of multiple-interface wireless networks based on utility functions. The employed utility functions express the goal in respect to which the improvement of the network operation is desired. Different network managers have different specifications for the operation and efficiency of their network, thus they have different goals. The proposed method for channel assignment and network topology configuration allows an improvement of its operation in respect to different goals, such as an increase in the total throughput of the network, a proper distribution of the network resources between different wireless links and the configuration of the number of the wireless links so that the reliability of the network may be increased.
