METHOD FOR MODELING UNDERGROUND FORMATION, COMPUTER-LEGIBLE STORAGE MEDIA FOR MODELING UNDERGROUND FORMATION, AND UNDERGROUND MODELING SYSTEM. The invention provides a system and method for integrating models of petroleum and geomechanical computer systems for use in oil and gas exploration. In one embodiment, the invention features an oil system model capable of analyzing data relating to an underground formation and calculating the geometry and geochemistry of each formation layer through geological time. The present invention further provides a geomechanical model in communication with the petroleum system model, so that information concerning each layer of the underground formation can be shared and indexed as an iterative operation prior to analysis of the subsequent layers. At each step of the iterative operation, results are calculated, validated, and indexed to produce improved estimates of oil load reliability and mechanical seal integrity for underground formation.
