PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for making an ASP(Application Service Provider) device to perform the identification procedure of a user of a Web site by which information effective for both of the manager and the user of the Web site is provided, and the control of personal information by simplifying the identification procedure with an ID effective in a plurality of Web sites, and the ASP device. SOLUTION: The ASP device 10 performs the identification procedure of the user of a Web site 16 and the control of personal information vicariously. This device 10 identifies the user in response to a request from browser-mounted equipment 18 to redirect the equipment 18 to the contents Web page of the prescribed site 16. After identifying a client in response to a request from a site 16 which is informed of completion of the identification of the user, the personal information of the user is extracted and sent back. Based on information sent from the site 16, the personal information is updated.
