PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a synthetic aperture radar device reduced in operation quantity by executing range and phase compensation divisionally on a special frequency axis and on a range axis to reduce the number of the following range directional processing points. SOLUTION: This synthetic aperture radar device comprises a range fast Fourier transform (FFT) part 6 for performing FFT of the output of a signal receiving part 5, a reference signal multiplication part 7 for multiplying the output of the FFT part 6 by a high frequency pulse signal from a signal transmission part, a range inverse FFT (IFFT) part 11 for performing IFFT of the output of 7, a signal cutout part 12 for cutting out the output of the range IFFT part in a range direction according to the relative change quantity of the distance to an observation central position, a range FFT part 13 for performing FFT of the output of 12, a range and phase compensation processing part 14 for compensating the change quantity of the residual uncompensated range in this part so that the phase of the echo from the observation central position is a fixed value, a signal interpolation part 9 for arranging the output of 12 on polar coordinates and interpolating a signal on rectangular coordinates thereto, and a two-dimensional IFFT part 10 for performing two-dimensional IFFT of the output of 9 and outputting a two-dimensional high resolution image.
