PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of storing a large amount of methane gas by condensing it under low-pressure gas hydrate forming conditions to form a type II gas hydrate; and to provide a methane gas-storing material obtained by using the method. PSOLUTION: The method of storing methane gas is characterized by the followings. A composite solvent 6 is prepared by adding an organic material having properties of forming the type II gas hydrate and absorbing methane gas, to water excessively by such an amount that more than the water necessitating for forming the type II gas hydrate. Fuel gas containing methane gas is fed into the solvent 6 under the conditions of pressure and temperature to form the type II gas hydrate. PCOPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
