PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of securing high color reproducibility (images having similar hue can be printed in the case of forming the same image) while giving clearance to the number of dots constituting a specified pattern, and to provide a manufacturing method of the image forming apparatus. PSOLUTION: A controller 90 for controlling a laser printer 1 includes a CPU 91, a ROM 92, an additional information memory 110, and an additional pattern forming part 100, etc. The additional pattern forming part 100 forms an additional pattern based on the additional information, and the part 100 is provided with a function of adjusting the size of a dot, and in the case the image has a small number of dots, a larger dot is used, on the other hand, in the case the image has a large number of dots, a smaller dot is used, that is, the additional pattern is formed while selecting the size of the dot in accordance with the number of used dots. Consequently, the area ratio of dots occupying a basic grid can be kept nearly constant, irrespective of the number of used dots, then, the high color reproducibility can be secured.
