PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of effectively performing a method for detecting defects of fuel cell materials, especially a method for detecting defects of a unit cell of a fuel cell. PSOLUTION: In the defect detection method for a fuel cell material, defects of the fuel cell materials are detected by using a displacement sensor, a transmission type photoelectric sensor, a CCD (charge-coupled device) line sensor, and/or a reflection-type photoelectric sensor. Further, a method of classifying fuel cell materials which uses the defect detection method for a fuel cell material is provided.
