PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent omission or a mistake which is caused by depending on an operator's memory.;SOLUTION: A component design-supporting method is applied to a 3D CAD. The method compares restrictions of manufacturing allowable sizes of feature shapes made by determining numerical value parameters of registered feature shapes, restrictions of manufacturing allowable arrangement distances among the respective feature shapes among the feature shape groups and restrictions of manufacturing allowable arrangement distances between the respective feature shapes and the end portions or bending parts of model shapes, with feature shapes which a user makes. When a feature shape which the user makes does not conform to the restrictions, the method discriminably displays a target spot on a display device. In addition, the method presents a group of improved proposals for modifying the sizes or arrangement distances of the feature shapes which the user makes, and changes a model shape according to an improved proposal selected from the group of improved proposals.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
