PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an importance level determination method for further properly determining importance levels of a plurality of photographic subjects in a digital image.;SOLUTION: When determining the importance levels of a plurality of photographic subjects in the digital image, relative positional relation between the photographic subjects or overall composition information of the digital image is considered in addition to area information or the like of the photographic subjects, so that the importance levels of the photographic subjects can be more properly determined. By properly determining the importance levels of the photographic subjects, a retrieval target can be properly refined in image retrieval, and efficient retrieval is achieved. Proper importance level determination is achieved by an importance level determination program or an image retrieval program in consideration of the relative positional relation between the photographic subjects, thereby enabling proper and efficient image retrieval.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
