PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a lot of information on the display screen of an electronic shelf label by embedding various kinds of information in an image to be displayed as electronic watermarks.;SOLUTION: In an electronic shelf label system 1, by transmitting image data from a management server 2 to an electronic shelf label 5 and displaying the image by the image data on the electronic shelf label 5, the display contents of the electronic shelf label 5 installed to a merchandise shelf are managed. The management server 2 and the electronic shelf label 5 have a function of embedding the electronic watermark in the image data, the management server 2 embeds sales promotion information such as the place of origin and the best-before date of merchandise and shop management information such as a stock quantity or the like for instance, and the electronic shelf label 5 embeds system management information such as the quality of radio communication. In such a manner, additional information is embedded in the image displayed by the electronic shelf label 5 by the electronic watermark, and it can be read using a watermark terminal 13.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
