Recognizing the fact that there is a possibility that a part of the filter coefficients are defined at the encoder has a symmetry with respect to the filter coefficients of the other, the present disclosure takes advantage of. Therefore, it is used a first set of filter coefficients for predictive coding a second set of filter coefficients, the present disclosure describes a technique for utilizing the symmetry between the filter coefficients. Instead of being transmitted to the decoding device, all of the filter coefficients, the encoding device may be transmitting a first set of filter coefficients, and a difference value associated with a second set of filter coefficients. With this information, the decoder is able to reconstruct all of the filter coefficients. In some cases, if the exact symmetry is imposed, it is possible to eliminate the need to send the difference value, the decoder is able to derive a second set of filter coefficients from the first set of filter coefficients possible.
