The piston has a ring gear (2) movable in translation with respect to a base (1). A variable stiffness type spring (3) tends to space apart the ring gear crown of the base. The spring comprises nonlinear deformation behavior when force is applied to the spring, where the force ranges between a null force and a driving force that drives a maximum compression of the spring. A guiding device (11) guides the translation movement of the ring gear with respect to the base. An independent claim is also included for an engine comprising inlet valves.
