Cosmetic use of an active ingredient derived from Myrtus communis to protect human skin from free radical, to prevent skin aging caused by free radicals, to limit formation of skin lipoperoxides, as metal chelator and for care of skin
Cosmetic use of an active ingredient derived from Myrtus communisto protect human skin from free radical, is claimed. Independent claims are included for: (1) anti-radical cosmetic active ingredient in the form of liquid, having dry material content of 20-35 g/l, polyphenol content of 2.5-5 g/l and pH of 3-4; and (2) a process for obtention of the active ingredient comprising aqueous solubilization of powder of Myrtus communisleaf, separation of soluble and insoluble phase, thermal treatment, filtration for recovering an active fraction containing polyphenol including hydrolyzable tannins, deodorization of the active fraction by absorption on adjuvant, and filtration and sterile filtration.
