The method involves implementing a minimal usage strategy of an alternator of an electrical network according to electric power required by electric energy consumers e.g. lighting device and air conditioning system, and a charge state of an electric energy storage unit e.g. rechargeable battery. The electric energy consumers are powered by a thermoelectric generator, when the electric power required by the electric energy consumers is lower than electric power delivered by the generator. Lacking power is provided by the storage unit when the required power is higher than the delivered power. An independent claim is also included for a system for managing an electrical network of a motor vehicle driven by a heat engine.
