Data e.g. cryptographic key portion, storing method for chip card, involves randomly determining value, and storing word obtained by shifting numeric word with number of bits based on randomly determined value
The method involves randomly determining a value (A), and storing a word obtained by shifting a numeric word with a number of bits based on the randomly determined value. The word is stored by transferring the numeric word towards a register of a cryptoprocessor, and by shifting the register with the number of bits. Value of the register is stored in a memory e.g. non-volatile memory such as electrically EPROM. The stored word is read from the memory, and a reverse shifting is carried out on the shifting of the number of bits. An independent claim is also included for an electronic entity for storing data represented by a numeric word.
