Gear selection method for automatic transmission of automotive vehicle, involves determining gear selection for transmission from power demand signal, engine speed, engine torque and transmission component speed
The method involves determining a power demand signal from pedal position and vehicle speed. Engine i.e. internal combustion engine, speed of gears is determined in response to the vehicle speed and power demand signal. Engine torque of each gear is determined in response to the vehicle speed and power demand signal. Transmission component speed of each gear is determined in response to the vehicle speed and power demand signal. Gear selection for transmission is determined from the power demand signal, engine speed, engine torque and the transmission component speed. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for controlling automatic transmission (2) a control system for transmission in communication with an engine.
