Calcium- and/or magnesium compounds, preferably calcium oxide, magnesium oxide, calcium carbonate, magnesium carbonate, calcium hydroxide and/or magnesium hydroxide, obtained from at least a naturally occurring calcium compound and/or magnesium compound are new, where: the naturally occurring calcium compound and/or magnesium compound are magnesite, calcite, marble, chalk, dolomite and/or huntite, and the primary particle size of the calcium- and/or magnesium compound is less than 300 nm, preferably 100 nm.
