Selective catalytic reduction catalytic converter's effectiveness determining method for internal combustion engine of vehicle, involves detecting presence of water in exhaust gas mixture in selective catalytic reduction catalytic converter
The method involves sorbing contents contained in an exhaust gas mixture by a selective catalytic reduction catalytic converter (12). The presence of liquid water in the exhaust gas mixture is detected in the converter downstream to an inlet position of an exhaust manifold (14). An effectiveness of the converter is determined for reducing content of nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas mixture by converting nitrogen oxides with a reducing agent. A change of an electrical measured variable is detected during detection of the presence of the liquid water. An independent claim is also included for a measuring arrangement for determining effectiveness of a catalytic converter.
