The device (11) has a transfer device (12) taking out cut slices (3) from a cutting device (2) and successively transferring the cut slices to a depositing device (13). The depositing device includes a turning device for turning over the cut slices around 130 degrees to 180 degrees relative to a holding position and for depositing the cut slices in a depositing section (14). A cutting plane of the cutting device is inclined relative to a vertical line. A movable table is provided in a transition region between the transfer device and the depositing device. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a conveyor device.
