The invention relates to a method and device for generating a database. In this case, information values with the aid of nodes, and directed edges, the relationships between the two nodes or information values describe, in the form of a directed graph to the database query is built up. The present invention is, for example, be used in monitoring devices or in medical databases. Furthermore, the invention can be used for databases that dynamically be expanded, for example by new events in the monitoring device.
