Piezo- and/or pyroelectric polymer composition comprises a matrix containing at least one piezo- and/or pyroelectric polymer and/or copolymer and a nanoparticle, which comprises metal or metal alloy, dispersed in it. Independent claims are included for: (1) preparing the above polymer composition, comprising (a) mixing the nanoparticle with a solution containing at least one piezo- and/or pyroelectric polymer and/or copolymer in a solvent and separating the solvent, or (b) mixing at least one compound (produced from elemental metal or metal alloy) with the solution containing at least one piezo- and/or pyroelectric polymer and/or copolymer in a solvent in connection with the production of the nanoparticle and then separating the solvent, or (c) mixing the compound (produced from elemental metal or metal alloy) with the solution containing at least one piezo- and/or pyroelectric polymer and/or copolymer in a solvent, separating the solvent and then producing the nanoparticle in situ in the solid matrix; and (2) a piezo- and/or pyroelectric component comprising the above polymer composition.
