The method for coating a coating medium such as coating color on paper, comprises coating a film of first coating medium on a coating roller (12, 14) of a film press (10), and coating a further film of further coating medium through a curtain coater. The film curtain of the curtain coater impinges directly in nip (16) of the film press or directly on the paper. The coating layer of the first coating medium is applied only on a side of the web-shaped materials (18) or simultaneously on both sides of the fiber material web. The coating layer of the first coating medium is dosed with squeegee. The method for coating a coating medium such as coating color on paper, comprises coating a film of a first coating medium on a coating roller (12, 14) of a film press (10), and coating a further film of further coating medium through a curtain coater. The film curtain of the curtain coater impinges directly in nip (16) of the film press or directly on the paper. The coating layer of the first coating medium is applied only on a side of the web-shaped materials (18) or simultaneously on both sides of the fiber material web. The coating layer of the first coating medium is dosed with a squeegee. The curtain coater is operated as curtain coating element for water-based coating color. The curtain coater is formed as extruder is subjected to melting as coating medium. Layers are simultaneously applied by the curtain coater. The coating medium comprises a viscosity of less than 500 mPas. The layer thickness of the coating medium on the coating roller is 5 mu m. The cohesiveness in the second coating medium applied by the curtain coater is higher than in the first coating medium applied on the coating roller.
