The method involves providing electricity consuming devices (4a-4d) e.g. washing machine and refrigerator, where each device is assigned to different priorities. An uncontrolled consumption of output of electricity is determined over a defined time period, and an average value is determined from the uncontrolled consumption of output of electricity. The average value is used as a parameter for a reference value during uniform consecutive time periods, and each of the devices is switched according to the priority for supplying actual output of electricity without exceeding the reference value. An independent claim is also included for a device for standardizing reference output of electricity of an energy consumer.
