The method involves detecting a force that acts on a manipulator in a direction. The detected force is compared with stored force in a command input mode, where a command is assigned to the stored force. The commands associated with the stored force are outputted to a controller of the manipulator if the detected force corresponds to the stored force. The command input mode is activated by pressing an input device. Movement of the manipulator is compared with stored movements in the command input mode. An independent claim is also included for a device for inputting commands into a control of a manipulator.
