The testing device (1) has a friction layer (7), in which a specimen (2) and a counter body (3) impinge with friction surfaces (5,6). A drive (4) is provided for moving the specimen opposite the counter body. The specimen is connected with the drive pivoting about a pivot axis (8) or a pivot point which is located in the friction layer.
