In a multiaxial assembly of layers (12a-12d) of fiber strands (i.e. rovings) (14) (the orientation of which is the same within each layer but differs between the first and second layers) containing or consisting of reinforcing fibers (15), (a) the strands are bonded together by thermoplastic fibers, (b) the assembly includes a thermoplastic matrix precursor component (TMPC) and (c) the thermoplastic fibers and TMPC are of the same material. Independent claims are included for: (1) the production of a fiber-plastics composite from a multiaxial assembly as above, by fusing the TMPC and thermoplastic fibers together with application of heat to form a matrix; and (2) a fiber-plastics composite obtained by the process.
