A turbo compressor strand has a turbo compressor unit and for driving the turbo-compressor unit, a drive unit, which is of a gas turbine as well as a generator and has a steam turbine. The steam turbine, together with the generator to the turbo compressor unit and the gas turbine can be coupled by means of a coupling device. The clutch assembly has a coupling and a clutch exciter, with which the coupling of a release state can be brought into an active state, in which the over-running clutch in the case of synchronous rotational speed of the gas turbine and engages the steam turbine and, if the over-running clutch is engaged, in the case of an increase in the rotational speed of the steam turbine and of the generator is released, so that the generator of the steam turbine with a higher speed than the turbo-compressor unit can be driven by the gas turbine.
