The unit (30) has an application unit (6) for application of fiber-or nonwoven suspension on a cover (25) and arranged opposite to a curved support surface (31). Ratio between a distance, which characterizes a gap width (a) of an outlet (33), of an edge (A) of outer guiding surface (13) from a drain line (B) of the cover and an arc length amounts in a range between 0.04 and 0.0025. The arc length is recordable by a contact region of the cover at the curved support surface up to a drain line of the cover. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a forming unit.
