The sheet fed press has a continuous promoter having two circulating grippers for a sheet, where phase position of grippers is adjustable. The forward-moving gripper (12,13) is formed for holding sheet at the forward-moving edge and trailing gripper (15,16) is formed for holding the sheet at the trailing edge. The upper branch of the continuous promoter lies vertically above the rotation axles (4,5) of a pneumatic cylinder (2,3).
