The invention relates to a device for metering secondary combustion air into the secondary air soles of Kokskammeröfen, said device being formed by a slider or a cuboid device or plates, which is moved by means of a push rod, said push rod is moved longitudinally parallel to the coke oven chamber wall, so that the plates move away from the secondary air openings and open or close them. The push rod is moved by means of a servomotor, wherein the power transmission takes place hydraulically or pneumatically. By means of suitable measuring parameters, the secondary heating can thus be optimized so that the heating takes place uniformly from all sides and thus an improvement of the coke quality is achieved. The invention also relates to a method for metering secondary combustion air in a coke oven.
